@jeroenpraat I tried finding my thoughts on the movie but I couldn't, i thought i posted something on it in the past.

i largely agree. i think what bothered me too was the pan-africanism, obviously i think erasing borders is the best way forward, but that wasn't what happened here. they smashed together a bunch of african (+ black american) cultural things and tied a ribbon of an authoritarian state (wakanda) around it all or something. @jeroenpraat obv seeing as i'm neither black nor african i don't know how much my opinion counts, but it's been something i've been trying to phrase properly for a while. and i haven't heard anyone else saying something about it, but i'd love to hear other people's thoughts on that

and like you, i'm not much into superhero films. tried watching a few a month or so back (black panther was one) and i'm just not a huge fan of the predictability of most of them… which i guess is why i thought, plot-wise, logan had something good going for it?

@joop I was really looking forward to this film, because of all the positive stories I heard about inspiring the Africans and the African Diaspora, but setting that aside... it is a very bad film!. 😞 On the other hand, if it can positively inspire some poor black kid, who am I to argue.

@jeroenpraat I guess that's why i'm hesitant to comment too much on it. I hope that it influences/inspires people properly, god knows diversity is incredibly needed in film & pop culture. i just hope people are able to hang on to some of the thoughts and discuss it properly… and use this as a platform i guess?

@joop I can also say; People of Color needs quality entertainment and art as their inspiration. But again; who am I (as non-PoC) to say that. 🤐

@jeroenpraat well, i mean. i think it's another trap to think "they" need "their entertainment" (not saying that that's what you're saying, but i've seen that argument made).

I mean I enjoy diverse media because it inspires me too, it makes me face myself and expands horizons, helps me understands others, etc. it literally helps everyone?
