Yesterday evening installed the Ubuntu build of
#Firefox57. Mixed feelings.
Good:
- Faster
- Cleaner
- Interface uses the OS theme. Even Adwaita Dark is used! (in the generic last beta build only Adwaita Light worked) cc @david_ross
- Webextensions
Bad:
- Webextensions. Cause Firefox 57 doesn't have all the API's Firefox <56 has, a lot of essential (and less essential) add-ons stopped working.
- about: pages and addons.moz.. can't made dark 😞
We have to live with it.
#pt Sorry for my typos. Trying to eat and type at the same moment.
@jeroenpraat @david_ross I still prefer Vivaldi as browser
@PatrickJenner @david_ross
Proprietary. No option for an open source advocate like me.
@jeroenpraat @david_ross Makes you no different than me. Though not all libraries are open, most of it still is. https://help.vivaldi.com/article/is-vivaldi-open-source/
@PatrickJenner @david_ross A few essential exceptions are listed here: https://vivaldi.com/privacy/vivaldi-end-user-license-agreement/
#pt And one thing:
Bad:
- Even more #Pocket integration. I've learned Pocked is now part of #Mozilla, but not everything is open sourced AFAIK. If I want something like Pocket I use @wallabag But it doesn't have that tight integration in Firefox as Pocket has.
BTW you can turn if with foing to about:config and change extensions.pocket.enabled to false.
