Problem: I use my own device to access work email when I'm working away from the office (generally twice a week). I don't want to receive work emails in the evening, weekends etc. So far I've used K-9Mail with two separate accounts, personal and work.
Proposed solution: since work email is an Exchange server, install Outlook on my Android device, and disable notifications when I'm not at work. I'm not happy to install proprietary software, but #selfcare is more important in this specific case.
@steko what was wrong with the k9 solution? Couldn't you disable notifications there as well for the work account?
@mrb that was my first attempt, but there are at least two separate settings that are buried down in different menus, and it's so inconvenient that I can't bother doing that 2 or 3 times a day https://androidforums.com/threads/k9-mail-how-to-turn-off-temporarily.394763/
@steko wow, that is way more complicated than it needs to be; this sounds like a good toggle to have. Spoke to the devs yet?
@steko another issue which would of help is https://github.com/k9mail/k-9/issues/3374 (notification channels) This one seems to have a higher chance of being implemented than 1530, as 3374 is required anyway for new API target.
