solidarity with ppl in rojava @paulfree14

Reading through the code of conduct of (it's not a final version) it seems contradicting itself.

It sates, if I understand it correct, that anyone being disruptive, even when aplying to the code of conduct will be removed.

In the CoC:
strictly prohibited, promoting the opression of any marginalized group based on..

Disruption is something very important to . It's a method of challenging power. Embeding the exclusion of this into the CoC forms structural opression

@paulfree14 If that's correct and accurate, I couldn't see myself or any other principled anarchist getting volved in #forkofftogether

@emerican
the passage I'm speaking about was writen in a way confusing me.

So I might just missunderstand it.

Here you'll find the docs:
cloud.vbz.net/index.php/s/XKpx

it should be 3.1

@paulfree14 @emerican I have drafted a brainstorming document to start the code of conduct workshop. It specifically says that it's for brainstorming and is not final. We're trying to make decisions together. I'm disappointed you'd make broad statements on something before it's been worked on.

@stephen @paulfree14 I was just chiming in, said "if," not trying to make any sweeping statements. Just think it's important to not scare off anarchists with language that makes it seem like dissidence wouldn't be tolerated, unintentionally or otherwise. Didn't mean to be overly damning with my comment, if that's how it read.

Forming a critic towards decisions that have been already made is part of making decisions together.

@emerican @paulfree14 Sad to see a statement like this without even investigating the issue. It is in a draft form, but I will advocate strongly to include language "prohibiting the oppression of marginalized groups."

@paulfree14 Yup. I saw this coming. What exactly is the definition of “being disruptive?” Disruptive to whom? To Ginny McQueen’s mood? To the deveopment of code that still hasn’t been written? Who decides who is disruptive?

Some people want to build anarchy. Other people want to topple the leader because they want to be the leader.

And hey, if they wanna write their own software, they should do it. But still, not a single line of code has been released.

All talk. All drama. No work. No code.

@rotatingskull @paulfree14 If you think that everything in free and open source software comes down to code then your priorities are very warped to say the least.

If you were further involved or had bothered to check, you would know that everything will be voted on: The CoC, the contents of the CoC and the people in the position to enforce it.

To me it looks like you just want to validate your preconceived notions of ForkTogether.

Also Ginny isn't involved at all - leave her out of this!

@hay @paulfree14 “If you had bothered to check”

You’re rude. Like most of the people in Fork Off. Please never contact me again.

definatly!

>All talk. All drama. No work.

Starting to build up a team is actually work.

@paulfree14 Uh huh. So then why do I hear about people trying to stop them? Lots of complaints of opposition from without?

No one is stopping anyone from sitting down and typing out code. Please, go ahead and do it. Absolutely no one is stopping you.

Don’t blame me if you spent your time on a video game chat forum and taking selfies instead though.

@rotatingskull
because there were ppl not happy with the work that has been done. But it doesn't mean it's still work.

..nope, I'm not joining any proprietary silo plattform with the aim to talk about how to build awsom free federated software. That's way to discount towards existing free federated software and not the culture I want to empathise.

@paulfree14 Yeah. It’s all so bizarre. Join a proprietary video game chat platform to discuss coding FLOSS software at a later date. Also be antagonistic to other open source developers whose code we’re forking. I mean, who ever does things that way? It makes no sense. There’s no way these are actual developers.

And one of them claims to be a community organizer. So that would be the strength of this organization. Okay. I read the draft of the bylaws. It was garbledegook.

@paulfree14 I think what happened here is that someone was a real jerk to Eugen. He stopped listening to them. They kept yelling that Mastodon sucks. He said fine, if you don’t like it make your own system. They said okay I will. But they forgot to learn how to code. Now they’re trying to save face for months.

Just give up guys. Really. Or release code. That’s good too. Just stop the drama?
