@paulfree14 I just searched for it in f-droid and nothing comes up.

@paulfree14 There's no install button? I've added the repo to f-droid the page for Briar shows up when I search (actually, it just automatically shows up in the list of new apps, now that I've added the repo), but there's no way to actually install it.

This is probably not something you can help with, unless you're one of the developers, but it's weird.

@ink_slinger
...hmm, can't really help with that. rather suggesting to close and open fdroid again.
That's how it looked for me:

@paulfree14 Weird. Here's what I see, even after rebooting the app.

@ink_slinger @paulfree14 With me it says that it's already installed and ot's signed with a different key. I don't have it installed.

@ink_slinger @paulfree14 In settings you can disable compatible versions and now I can install it. I suggest that this is a glitch in Briars installation files.

@paulfree14 Now finding someone to connect with, cause I understand you have to meet each-other IRL first.

@paulfree14 ???

did autocorrect strike again while you weren't paying attention?

@sc oh, I actually never use autocorrect. I choose to go with my misstakes, rather then then the autocorrect misstakes xD.

wanted to say, that this [no stickers]
should be something to be fixed.

@paulfree14 @torproject @fdroidorg this project looks very interesting.

Unfortunately almost all the journalists I know use iPhones, so they can't use it. Do you know if there's any plans for desktop versions, and multi-device support for the same user?

@torproject @fdroidorg @micahflee
I believe they will extend it. Thought they are just at the beginning.

quoting them:
'Our goal is to enable people in any country to create safe spaces where they can debate any topic, plan events, and organise social movements.'

This are the people behind:

@paulfree14 @torproject @fdroidorg I'm very excited about peer-to-peer apps that sync with each other over onion services.

Now, I just need to find some other Android users in person who want to test it out...

@paulfree14 @fdroidorg does it have (in the order of importance):
1. Offline messages
2. Bots
3. Stickers / custom emojis :think_burger: ?

@fdroidorg @phil
1. offline messages should work. Also p2p (I'm not completly shure, at least it's work in progress)
2. yes. you can have a 'blog' and add any feed to it. takes 3 clicks.
3. ..haven't saw that.

#Briar is a super project. I hope an IOS version in a future. A messaging app only for android users is very limited...

@paulfree14 Do they finally have any way of connecting with any first person besides meeting in person?
(Sorry if you've been asked this like 20 times already...)

contacting via briar Show more

@paulfree14 @gaditb The physical meetup requirement is ok for traditional activism, but not for global organizing. A better system is as with OMEMO in Conversations to trust on first use and have the capability to verify keys later if you meet up.

@paulfree14 @torproject @fdroidorg sorry but, I can't seem to find it, could you link it please? Sounds like an interesting project I'd like to try out

@inprincipioeratverbum
yes, sry forget to mention that they have their own repo.

Take a look at their page, there you'll find how to add the briar repo:

Briar is nice but not very easily usable for everyday people as they have to be connected at the same time in order to exchange messages.
