@breebump
isn't it proprietary software? I prefer firefox much more then any proprietary browser.

@paulfree14 probably, though. It's based on Chromium.
Isn't firefox proprietary aswell?

@breebump
it's opensource. they just have some nonfree software parts integreated when I remember correct.
Browser like icecat are completly build from firefox and cutting off the non-free software parts.

@paulfree14 but the Chromium SDK is open source aswell, isn't it?

@breebump
yes, but depending on .
Means they are out for me as an alternative.

@paulfree14 you ever heard of ecosia as a search engine?
Planting trees with the advertising revenue?

@breebump
yes. it started as meta search engine and think now also uses to some part their own. The 'planting tree' thing is nice.
But since I don't click on adverticments nor do I buy, I wouldn't have any positive impact by using .

@paulfree14 I like using falkon, but there are still several edges that need polishing.

@paulfree14 I don't understand, why not just disable it?

@codebam @paulfree14 Probably to send a message. If it's the default, you wouldn't want to support it by using it and showing up in statistics.

Mozilla probably cares little about those who would disable it, yet continue using Firefox. I bet they do care about people using it as their browser in the first place. It's the "vote with your wallet" equivalent of FOSS, I suppose.

@paulfree14 @copygirl I can't see Pale Moon as an alternative with the recent branding issue they raised with one of the BSDs

@paulfree14 Waterfox. Basically a purified Firefox. Fast and reliable. No tracking. No sponsored BS. No experiments.
