shure does order make sense. Police would be completly disfunctional if they would operate consens orientated.
Imagine there's military industry complex being blocked by activists, and the police would start to debate with them rather then using physical violence.
When it's about how to operate quick, I'll prefer if it's done through requests. It's very different mindset to just following order, it requires and invites critic if needed....

@paulfree14 well I think there is more to it. "Orders" make "sense" in situations where quick decisions have to be made. (Imagine assisting a doctor and wanting a consensus on every task to be on.) So I'd say it is about trust. We trust that some people know better in some situations and then we follow their orders/suggestions. The consequences for not following are a different question.
For me it's rather a questions when, how and who should we trust?
